NACI Comfort Food, your comfort place

Let me just warn you — this post will make you salivate due to the flood of deliciously-looking and even more deliciously-tasting line up of food fare!

NACI is all about having the complete dining experience. From the refreshing, brightly-colored interiors, to the smooth servers down to the delectable dishes that’s truly a sight to behold — dining at NACI truly is a feast to delight in!

NACI means “rice” in Kapampangan but they did not limit their menu to Pampanga dishes alone, in fact they specialize in rice dishes but they have an impressive line up of menu!

NACI basically translates international cuisine and local comfort food to something that’s palatable fusion to your taste buds.

NACI Comfort FoodThe spacious interior is inviting. Totally made me feel welcome! And who doesn’t love quilted chairs? Or quilted anything?? *I know I do!*

I’ve never been to their Greenhills branch where they stayed for more than a year before transferring to Bonifacio Global City but my friend said that this new interior design is much preferable for him.

NACI Comfort FoodIn total the interiors look so hip, so young, so vibrant! The high ceiling helped a lot in making it inviting, homey and refreshing to the eyes.

NACI Comfort FoodThe bright-hued chairs gave this place a happy vibe — perfect to capture the attention of the yuppies around Fort business district and the families or friends looking for a place to celebrate life’s achievements, whether big or small.

NACI Comfort Food Cohen-Friendly MenuWhile waiting for our feast, I’ve noticed that they have Cohen-friendly menu. This is something first for restaurants to offer and as of right now, there are only a few who are doing this and one of the very few is NACI. *wink*

NOW… shall we start our visual feast?

Note: This is the only time I used *pigging out* again!

My top favorites: Classic Salpicao — high quality, super tender and flvorful beef and Beef Taco Springroll — the no-mess taco! *hmmm… so good!!!*

Choice of Four of Naci’s Best Selling Appetizers. Ours was Beef Taco Springroll, Cajun Mozzarella Balls, Classic Salpicao and Glazed Chicken Wings.

*Price-wise, getting the sampler proved to be much more reasonable than ordering each appetizer separately.

My top favorite: Kani Mango Crunch Salad. This is my salad of choice. Easy to eat plus I love the wasabi-mayo salad dressing!

SLICE, where desserts come first

If there is one of the many friends I love to meet, that would be Clang, who I fondly call as Clangkers. Since I haven’t seen her in a while, I invited her out for a foodie trip. But before we went to the main event, we were looking for a dessert place and spotted SLICE.

We checked their menu and noticed they are offering healthy stuff but the thing that caught our attention was two of their juices — Moringa Miracle and Kalemonade. That instant, we hit SLICE inside!

SLICE muffins and cookies

As soon as you enter, there is a sumptuous looking table on the left that holds different muffins and cookies lineup. As well as this fridge that holds their sandwiches, salads, yogurt, veggie and fruit sticks, milks, sodas and juices.

SLICE Morning Glory and Nuts About Banana muffins

This fridge would also caught your attention because they are keeping the yummy-looking cakes cool!

SLICE cakes

It’s very unfortunate that the two juices we were interested to try were not available so we chose the available juice on the menu, Raving Raspberry Juice. I’m assuming this is not the powder type of juice since they are offering healthy grub and so if this is fresh then it must be really good! Just enough sweetness and very refreshing! It was served on a tall glass which is just about right since they charged a hundred pesos for it.

SLICE Raving Raspberry

{ Raving Raspberry Juice Php100 }

Both muffins are really good! As per SLICE, their handmade muffins contain less sugar than traditional recipes and most are loaded with fresh fruits which make them healthier.

SLICE Morning Glory and Nuts About Banana muffins

{ Morning Glory Php70 and Nuts About Banana Php60 muffins }

Morning Glory — high fiber and nutritious perfect for breakfast or a snack made from apples, carrots, walnuts, coconut flakes and raisins and partly wholewheat flour.

Nuts About Banana — made from mashed and bits of banana with generous chunks of walnuts.

If you are hanging out with just a friend, better pick the seat on the right-most area upon entering. The chairs are comfortable, the table is lower than the other tables and perfect for catching-up chikahan with a girl friend.

SLICE cakes and cupcakes desserts

{ Extensive line up of cupcakes and cakes for a sweet ending to a perfect meal. I have yet to try all of these! }

Dining at Bellini’s

Entry Comments Actions

One Thursday evening, My B and I needed to go to the groceries but had to go to dinner first. I thought we would stop by our usual comfort-food-comfort-place but B surprisingly asked to have dinner in Cubao X. Since we haven’t dined together at Bellini’s, that’s our hot spot to dine, finally.

IMG_0646_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ The guitar man made our dining relaxing too! }

IMG_0654_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ Didn’t realize that this place is huge! You can have a get together here esp if you love the colorful space and the food.. }

IMG_0660_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ With my date as we wait for our orders }

You won’t feel trapped in this space because of the paintings all over the place — the walls, the ceilings, practically everywhere. They assumed the colors of the rainbow and it would feel like you are really in a different country.

IMG_0668_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ Desserts and wine would probably go to our must-try list for next visit… }

On The Table

IMG_0688_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ His: Bellini’s Special Pizza Php250. This is a thin crust pizza with the usual toppings except they added eggplant for a twist. }

IMG_0689_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ Hers: Pesto pasta with grilled chicken Php400. }

Whenever I can’t decide which to order, my default order (if available) would have to be the pesto pasta with grilled chicken. With that said, it means I have tried and loved pesto pasta from different restaurants. And so… This is the most surprising element of the night! As soon as I took a bite of the pasta, it wasn’t al dente. The sauce was nothing special too. Although the chicken was a bit better than the last I’ve tasted, only because it has the right amount of saltiness to it. But that’s about all there is to it. Even though I wasn’t satisfied, I made my way to finish the last piece on my plate.

But that only backfired when we got the bill and found out that since they do not offer this pasta combo (pesto pasta with grilled chicken), that particular order was a special order which also has a special price of a whopping Php400!

I was about to let go of it but the thing that I hated the most was they weren’t trained to at least inform the dining customers that if they are ordering a “special combination”, it was on a special rate too. Although eating that pasta certainly did not taste special at all!

But… since nothing can be done anymore, we just had to pay our orders with two mental notes: 1) I will ensure that if I am ordering something that’s out of the menu, I will inquire if it will cost me more… and 2) If on the first bite I am not satisfied, I will immediately inform them, so as not to just settle and eventually backfired on me!

Although there were some mishaps, I was happy with our dining experience because of the guitar man singing on the background and the colorful paintings. With the food, I just wish I would be able to try something that is really delicious that would wipe off my memory of their expensive pesto pasta.

Have you tried this resto? How was your experience? I would love to know!

Leona Art Restaurant

My B and I met with our friend Joseph and his new friend to catch-up over dinner. We were supposed to go to Chef Tatung which we later found out that they already moved to Fort area. Bummed with the thought that we cannot think of a “new” place we can try along Maginhawa St., I tried my hardest to remember this little hideaway eating place adjoining Maginhawa St. — Leona Art Restaurant.

This secret restaurant offers Italian and Mexican dishes freshly cooked upon ordering. Just allow ample time for your orders to be served. If you ARE REALLY HUNGRY and you already know what you would like to order, you can call and order in advance. Saves time and your sanity! *wink*

IMG_0591_dpp_1200_a-stormy-skyTheir price point is pretty OK too. It’s very reasonable for the taste of their dishes.

The interiors are just OK. It’s a bit swamped with tables actually. Although there are not a lot of diners, it would be so much better if they have more space in between tables so that you cannot overhear conversations from the next table. Another point for improvement would be their tablecloths, it seemed like they rarely wash them off and a dirty tablecloth is like an antidote to my appetite.

IMG_0594_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ His: Roast Chicken with mashed potato Php139 }

Only tried the mashed potato but it’s not the taste that I like the most.

IMG_0595_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ His: Three-cheese pizza Php180 }

It’s thin crust has just the right amount of crunchiness to it. You can really taste all the cheeses blended well together. It’s delicious with or without the hot sauce.

IMG_0598_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ Hers: Chicken & Pesto Php165 }

¬†I really love their pesto sauce and how al dente the pasta is, my suggestion though is for them to update their grilled chicken recipe. It is TOO salty for my taste and that must be really salty because I’m known to like salty food.

IMG_0599_dpp_1200_a-stormy-sky{ Quesadilla Php110 }
This is our friend’s but I took a bite anyway, and it is so good. Hot and just fresh!

IMG_0608_dpp_1200_a-stormy-skyAside from being a restaurant, Leona Art also holds some knick knacks for the curious you but we have to go back there to take a picture, and maybe even shop some of them. *grin*

Overall, I love this little place. Taste and price-wise, it’s worth the trip. *wink*
