My B celebrated his birthday last March 22 and this year, I planned to surprise him with a quirky, shabby-chic breakfast tray in bed! Yes, breakfast in bed served with so much love! Mushy! Ha! *wink*

I really am a carnivore. A meat lover indeed. This roast beef is just tender, juicy and heavenly! Immediately after I finished it, I’m already planning in my head our next trip to this bistro just for me to have a taste of this heaven on earth dish. In fact I saw they have Spanish themed Roast Beef Buffet every Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Shall we, B?

After our airport-hospital-airport errand we did for future sis-in-law last March 23, B decided to treat me at one of our comfort-food-fave-hang-out-place — Banapple in Katipunan. We have frequented this place (and the other branch, also in Katipunan) for the last few years but this is my first time to blog about it. So here’s a photoblog to honor this pretty little quaint place that is dear to our hearts.

*This also marked the start of my fasting, which I aimed to do for at least a week.

I love my usual order of Baked Creamy Cheese Penne and the pesto bread included. It’s meaty and cheesy but I noticed that it produced a lot of oil. B thought maybe it was heated through microwave that’s why the beef secreted major major oil produce. Nonetheless, it’s my no-fail all-time Banapple comfort food.

Let’s talk about desserts. I love love love their cheesecake desserts! Their Snickers Fudge Cheesecake was a hit to me and B. I usually order their Blueberry Cheesecake but I have to resolve ordering something new every time we visit so that I can explore other taste and I can share with you, or maybe you can share with me your Banapple favorite, yeah? *nom nom*

Thanks to my B for the deliciously looking photos! *wink*

A Gantea

In Chinese, A means sweet and Gan means refreshing after taste. This is what A Gantea is all about — sweet and refreshing way to drink your tea.

A Gantea in Eastwood Mall{ A Gantea in Eastwood Mall }

Freshly picked cherry leaves from Taiwan’s Ali mountain, A-gan Tea offers lots of tea varieties and different brewing approach for a unique characteristic that is sweet and refreshing. A-Gan Tea comes from the Chinese word “A-Gan” which means sweet and refreshing aftertaste, characteristics that our unique tea is known for.

A-gan Tea had its roots in Central Taiwan. It was launched eight years ago to offer tea lovers a new way of enjoying their favorite beverage. And in a way, it ushered in “the new culture of tea drinking.” A-gan Tea brings its trademark sweet, refreshing blend to Philippine shores.

Boasting of a diverse line up of flavors and concoctions, A-gan Tea will surely delight the Pinoy palate, young and old alike.

We were served with A Gantea’s bestsellers! I am in love with plain milk tea with black pearls but I am open to try other tea concoction like fruit tea and milk tea with other toppings.

A Gantea Hawaiian Fruit Tea{ Hawaiian Fruit Tea }
Jasmine tea based mixed with tropical fruits. For this season they used calamansi, lemon, mango and orange. It’s very refreshing! The fruits vary on the available depending on the season.

A Gantea QQ Milk Tea{ QQ Milk Tea }
QQ means chewy-chewy (according to the manager). Black tea based with non-dairy premium milk. This has coconut jelly and black pearls. Although this looks milky, it actually has a pineapple taste.

Trivia: Did you know the difference between the 2 kinds of pearls?
White pearls – chewy but less sweet
Black pearls – chewy and sweeter

This confirmed why I prefer black pearls!

A Gantea Taro Milk Tea{ Taro Milk Tea }
Fresh taro with agar bits. You will love the texture and taste of agar!

A Gantea Pear Fruit Tea{ Pear Fruit Tea }
Alpine tea based means tea leaves were hand-picked to ensure it’s premium quality. This is Jasmine tea based with pear flavor. This is my least favorite amongst the set.

A Gantea Bubble Milk Tea{ Bubble Milk Tea }
Black tea based with full cream milk and white pearls. This is equivalent to my usual fave of plain milk tea.

Overall, I give A Gantea a score of 9 out 10! Despite trying a total of six, yes 6 types of tea concoction, I didn’t feel bloated like how I usually feel after chugging a large cup of other milk tea. I’m assuming this is because they only use premium quality Alpine tea leaves on their drinks. And what sets them apart from other milk tea places I think would be their toppings option which includes agar bits.

Their price range is between Php85 for a medium cup to Php95 for a large cup, which is not bad at all for a healthy alternative to our favorite milk tea!

Park date + Cafe Sweet Inspirations

Happy Easter, everyone! Hope your new beginning is a beautiful one.

UP Park

B and I spent our Holy Week inside our apt in the Metro and last Holy Monday I started with my fasting.

Come Saturday night, we just felt the urge to go out and do our “wedding talk-ing” in the park. We forgot how beautiful the parks are — the greeneries, the trees, the flowers and all the works! We were reminded how good it feels to just hang out, smell the fresh air and just be reunited with nature.

And… after a total of six days, I decided to break my fast last Black Saturday.

A new restaurant was our goal destination for Black Saturday dinner so we tried out Cafe Sweet Inspirations along Katipunan Ave.

Overall, this place is cozy, reminded me of TOSH with the dim lights and homey-feel type of resto. The food was just OK — simple, straight to the point and true to its taste but nothing too good to rave about though.

About my supposedly sweet treat — considering they call themselves a cafe and bakeshop, they used poor quality cream cheese for this dessert. I don’t recommend this BUT maybe their other cake slices and desserts are worth a try so I would still go back and try them out.

Thanks to my B for these ah-mazing photos, as usual.

Brasas, Latin American Street Food

When I hear “Latin American”, I just can imagine the most beautiful and alluring people — think Brazilian models! And when I saw Brasas, Latin American Street Food, I am immediately drawn because I’m curious as to what could be the secret to their oozing appeal!

At Brasas{ Mi fecha guapo esta noche. }

Brasas Menu

Although their menu doesn’t seem like what sexy people eat on a regular basis to maintain their figures, I’d say the different spices used in their dishes is the factor that gives Latin American cuisine that distinct ooomph and flavor.

IMG_6088{ His: Chicken Rice Platters. Charcoal grilled meat with South American slaw, patacones & yellow rice served with chimichurri sauce. Php180 }

IMG_6089{ Hers: Pequeño Beef Grilled Wrap. Charcoal grilled meat, flour tortilla, tomato salsa, roasted sweet bell peppers, sauteed onions served with chipotle sauce. Php190 + Php30 for extra Monterey Jack cheese }

Both dishes are a feast in the palate. The charcoal grilled meat are tasty and tender to the bite. Although my grilled beef wrap is somewhat oily, which I assume came from the rich beef meat. You would probably crave for something sweet to balance off the taste but other than that, I’m sure you meat lovers will enjoy this, just like I did!
