Hooray Thursday: Shoes

Post Content

Shoes were known mainly as an item of footwear intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities. The design of shoes varies enormously through time and from culture to culture. The style also varies from different activities to different functions and purposes, from men’s oxford to women’s high-heels to unisex’s moccasin to athletics’ running shoes to ballet dancer’s shoes to nurses’ work shoes.

In fairy tales like Cinderella, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and The Red Shoes and especially in the fashion world, shoes just play an important and fabulous role.

Some of my latest fascination and addition to my growing wish list. *winks*

Slow dance with me?

Post Content

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round,
or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight,
or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.

Do you run through each day on the fly,
when you ask “How are you?”, do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?

You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.

Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die,
‘cause you never had time to call and say, “Hi!”?

You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere,
you miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,
it’s like an unopened gift thrown away.

Life isn’t a race, so take it slower,
hear the music before your song is over.

~ Slow Dance, a poem by David L. Weatherford ~

We’ve probably heard that “Life is too short.” too many times and we’ve probably told ourselves that “Yes, from now on I will live my life better.” But, have we really? In this day and age, people seem to be rushing and hurrying to get to their destination, not realizing that the fun part is also in the journey.

I am one of probably millions, even billions of victims of this way of life, falling in the pit of this pattern every single day. And I intend to stop. I’d like to wake up to a beautiful sunrise and breathe the fresh air. I’d like to chew food slowly and enjoy mom’s cooking. I’d like to get in touch with my closest and long lost friends. I’d like to hone my talents and give time for creative endeavors.

I want to truly experience living – praising my creator and my God, enhancing the lives of each and every important person in my life, inspiring people’s goodness to be shared to the world and touching even a single life in my whole existence, slow dancing with the one I love.

I’ll start by sharing a smile and a prayer in the face of turmoil.

How about you? How do you live your life to the fullest? How do you plan to start? I’d love to know.
