Babies are bits of star-dust blown from the hand of God. Lucky is the woman who knows the pangs of birth for she has held a star. – Larry Barretto

While being pregnant can oftentimes be an uncomfortable experience, there are moments when it feels so magical and thrilling that I never want it to end. I know one thing is for certain — there’s no other experience in life like it. This whole nine months of pregnancy will change my life, for the better, I’m sure.

To celebrate the joys and beauty of pregnancy, my B and I planned to do our own maternity boudoir photography.

Pregnancy Diary: 30 Weeks and 4 Days (October 4)

Pregnancy Diary: 30 Weeks and 4 Days (October 4)

Diary Entry | 30 September 2015

I’m on my 30th week! We had a routinely checkup to check my weight, blood pressure, baby’s size and baby’s heartbeat. All seems OK except that I already have edema (swelling) which usually appears around 35th week. Eeek! My OB reminded me to monitor my weight and not to gain anymore weight. My pre-pregnancy weight is 144lbs and today I’m already 172lbs. That’s 28lbs weight gain! My target is 30lbs until I deliver baby on December 9, which is my 40th week. I have 10 more weeks to go with only 2lbs weight gain allowance. Saddest checkup EVER! Doc said I may have passed the gestational diabetes test but I may be prone to high blood pressure by the time I go into labor. So that’s a scary thought. That’s a NO-NO! So we left the hospital while I was feeling defeated. All this time I thought I am on the right track with everything about my pregnancy. I guess I let some Jabee and McDo slipped their way through. Now it’s back to square one, I should be mindful of what I will eat and drink. 10 more weeks of foodie sacrifice and I will be able to hold my cute little baby in my arms. Now that’s a good reason to keep in mind. *smiles*

Sometimes in this independent life we try to live not to mention being a foodie pregnant, I get food cravings here and there that not even my attempt to cook nor my cry for help will alleviate. Living in a small city that is far from the usual malls and restaurants I am used to, also does not help. That’s why I feel so relieved and happy that there is this one restaurant that popped up near our area. It’s called Ho Chai Lai. I believe it’s got branches in other areas and it’s just good of them to branch out here in Cavite.

Pregnancy can bring on a flood of conflicting feelings. As happy as I may be about the new life growing inside me, my ever-changing and expanding body makes me feel uncomfortable and anything but beautiful. As my breasts grow, my waistline disappears, and my belly swells, I long to have my old body back — It’s hard not to.

Though I take comfort in the fact that the most awkward and frustrating phase in pregnancy is often when your belly is growing but you don’t look pregnant yet, just like as I was during first trimester. But as soon as my second trimester hits, I am already set to enjoying in that “pregnancy glow”.
