Roaring Twenties

IMG_8345dpp_1920_rainplay-eventsOne thing I love most about my events works is the fact that I have to dress up to the occasion. Recently when I and my team at RainPlay Events handled the coordination and hosting of Kyra’s debut, I couldn’t be more excited to know that her theme was inspired by The Great Gatsby. This was what I wore.

L-R: Mel Cruz (hairstylist), yours truly and Cai Guiang (makeup artist).

I opted for white, black and gold color motif for this look. Lacking an art deco accessories? No problem, I re-purposed a necklace to make a headpiece. With just the right angling and some bobby pins — voila! Instant headpiece! I love re-purposing since it widens your options with the minimal arsenal you have.

Special thanks to Steven Yap Haute Couture for my beautiful white dress (which I also wore on one of our engagement shoots).

Credits to my #GlamTeam for the day who dolled me up — Mel Cruz for my hair, Cai Guiang for my makeup and Brian Sahagun for these beautiful documentary photographs.

Interestingly, the prom at the school I work for also had a Gatsby 1920’s theme. I think you would’ve enjoyed the way the girls dolled themselves up to look the part (including my daughter).

I’m sure I would’ve enjoyed that and maybe compared notes with the other girls. I believe “The Great Gatsby” turned 90 this April 2015 that’s possibly why it’s a popular theme for events. I hope your daughter enjoyed her prom! 🙂
