Diary Entry | 30 September 2015
I’m on my 30th week! We had a routinely checkup to check my weight, blood pressure, baby’s size and baby’s heartbeat. All seems OK except that I already have edema (swelling) which usually appears around 35th week. Eeek! My OB reminded me to monitor my weight and not to gain anymore weight. My pre-pregnancy weight is 144lbs and today I’m already 172lbs. That’s 28lbs weight gain! My target is 30lbs until I deliver baby on December 9, which is my 40th week. I have 10 more weeks to go with only 2lbs weight gain allowance. Saddest checkup EVER! Doc said I may have passed the gestational diabetes test but I may be prone to high blood pressure by the time I go into labor. So that’s a scary thought. That’s a NO-NO! So we left the hospital while I was feeling defeated. All this time I thought I am on the right track with everything about my pregnancy. I guess I let some Jabee and McDo slipped their way through. Now it’s back to square one, I should be mindful of what I will eat and drink. 10 more weeks of foodie sacrifice and I will be able to hold my cute little baby in my arms. Now that’s a good reason to keep in mind. *smiles*
I read somewhere that I should start noticing what time baby is awake in my belly, because this will be the time that he will be awake once on the outside world. So I noticed now (past 2am) that baby’s moving like dancing so I’m guessing this will be the time we’ll all be awake once baby’s out. Good luck to sleep!
I have been having major mood swings! Good thing husband has been very understanding about my situation and my acting hormones. I am also in awe of the fiber-power of pears!!! I haven’t had issues with constipation by adding one pair a day to my diet. I SWEAR BY PEAR! Also, we already have baby name ideas — which we will share as soon as baby is born! *wink*
Shortness of breath. This is becoming common to me now. I just need to take a deep breath to regain my breath rhythm.
Numbness / tingling. Shaking off my legs or hands help with this.
Tender breasts. I hug a small pillow in between them and this usually does the trick to ease the tenderness-pain.
Leg cramps. Would you believe that I am no longer being shocked by this every morning? In fact, I automatically stretch my legs the minute I woke up and feel I have leg cramps. That’s how common and frequent this attacks me.
Backaches. Holding my posture helps as well as a little back stretching.
Swelling. I will ask my OB if I need to check if I have protein in my urine because swelling might just be a symptom of pre-eclampsia which I hope totally hope not!
Braxton Hicks contractions. I was dumbfounded when I first felt this. I just noticed that my belly is tightening and I panicked a little thinking that my baby might be suffocating inside. Good thing for pregnancy apps and tons of information on the internet describing how I felt exactly. Now I know that my body is just preparing itself for delivery!
