Pregnancy Diary: 32 Weeks and 3 Days (October 17)

Hey baby,

Your kicks are getting stronger and stronger. Mommy might feel pain, but as long as you’re growing and developing well in my belly, it’s all worth it. Mommy and daddy love you so much! 💕

Love,

Your momma Jaycelle

Diary Entry | 19 October 2015

I was chatting with my ex-colleagues about pregnancy, breastfeeding and motherhood. This is when the seed of gentle birth was planted in my head. My friend specifically advice me to OWN MY BIRTH. She also asked me to join this Facebook group called “Gentle Birth Philippines”. That same night I requested to join the group, little did I know that it’s going to be the start of my more meaningful pregnancy journey.

baby’s size:

Pain d’epi

my mood:

For some weird reason, my fondness for my B is turning to annoyance. Sorry, B. Although I also don’t like this feeling so I am hoping that I resolve whatever it is that’s bugging me and start being fond of him again.

my symptoms:

Tender breasts. They’re getting bigger and heavier, and super tender!

Numbness / tingling. This pins-and-needles feeling usually happens in the morning, as soon as I wake up, I can feel it in my hands.

Leg cramps. This annoying symptom is becoming a regular every morning. One time my subconscious event know that I will feel the cramps so I immediately know what to do even if I just woke up.

Shortness of breath. It looks like baby is crowding my lungs so much!

Swelling. Even though I am sleeping with my feet elevated, this does not seem to go away. I guess I really have to buy a bigger pair of shoes, aside from wearing my Birks.

Abdominal pelvic cramping. This felt like I’m having dysmenorrhea.

Heartburn.

  1. for leg cramps, it’s a sign of magnesium deficiency. Bili kang magnesium oil sa website na to. Local seller sila and I’m using the 8oz spray. Make sure you email them after placing your order para maprocess nila. As for the tender breasts, bili ka na ng ice bag sa Mercury or Watsons. Yung old fashioned na ice bag na lalagyan mo ng ice cubes tas isscrew yung top. Wag kang matempt na bilhin yung mamahaling 3M na gel pack kasi it loses its heat or cold so soon compared to a normal ice bag. The ice bag will be your best friend now you have tenderness and later on when you start breastfeeding. The one thing I was annoyed with is that no one (lactation consultant, La Leche League website, other breastfeeding moms mostly) will say is that it is damn painful to breastfeed especially if your baby has a small mouth. Kahit anong maniobra ko sa newborn ko he couldn’t get a good latch bec his mouth was just too small to accommodate the nipple. My nipples were painful everyday pero tiniis ko for the first month and a half kasi I’m committed to breastfeeding. Eventually I found a mommy forum where they said the same thing: just stick it out and eventually the pain will go away. Your body will readjust its sensitivity and it won’t hurt as much. Till then, mag ice bag ka while your baby is feeding. The other websites and parenting magazines keep talking about proper latch. Yung anak ko laging improper latch up to now but he’s healthy and has the cutest chubby cheeks. So please don’t give up if things are a bit tough at first. Both you and your baby have a learning curve for breastfeeding. Wish you all the best!
