Gourmet Fair

Entry Comments Actions

We chanced upon a gourmet food fair at Gateway Activity Area and wandered around the area to see what will pique our interest. There’s a lot actually — like this flavored chocolates with personalized wrappers. I think it’s the perfect giveaway to any party.

But what excites me with these kinds of food fair is the chance to discover local food and desserts shop. In the end, we decided to take home MedChef‘s revel bar (3pcs for Php100). #supportlocal

Snapshots: Bag of Beans

Bag of Beans has been like our comfort place to stop-by when we are in Tagaytay. The place is homey and the food is good. One rainy afternoon (this explains the fact that we are the only diners this time) on our drive to Tagaytay, we made a quick stop here for lunch. Here are some snapshots.

{ Mom’s: Cheese omelet with two buttermilk pancakes Php160 }

We didn’t roam around the area, precisely because it was raining. This was our view from one of the cabanas on the side. This photo was captured before it really starts to rain.

{ My order: Cream of Broccoli or Cauliflower Soup Php120 }

{ Xam’s: Lasagna Php195 }

{ Glenn, Xam, mom and me }

I’m not sure why I didn’t take photo of Glenn’s order which was probably blue marlin or tuna belly, but I remembered clearly that I enjoyed snagging it from his plate. Haha!

5 days to go before Christmas!!! Happy weekend! xoxo

Holiday Snippets

My weekend of intended relaxation quickly turned into catching up on way too much laundry and tons of organizational projects, add to that the first bridal fair I’ve attended with my B. *yihee*

Although… I thought I would take a few moments today to share to you a few of our Christmas and New Year’s snippets, Instagram style. My holiday involved a lot of spending time with family and loved ones, last minute Christmas shopping, wrapping a mountain of gifts, spending more time in the kitchen trying my skills in cooking new recipes for the first time — like Classic Pot Roast, Beef and Mushroom Pasta and mashed potato (I feel so accomplished! Haha), bonding with little brother over making my lola’s recipe and not to mention my favorite puto.

Add to that my heavenly moments sipping mom’s rich hot chocolate, munching on those puto, eating lots of desserts including ate Hazel’s carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and watching batoots dance to Gangnam style (pretty little kids from my B’s side of the family). Holidays with the Sahaguns are also the best time to enjoy hosting a friendly competition and contests amongst kids and kids at heart.

December has been a hectic yet amazing month. May this month of January and each month onwards have as much love and blessings as the previous ones.

I’ll be stopping in again soon with a few bits + pieces of my reflections on 2012, but in the meantime I’m wishing you all had a very beautiful weekend and a bright Monday. Lots of love! Cheers to a fresh start!

Stella & Rocket Room

Stella and Rocket Room are brainchild of Raintree Restaurants owned by a Filipino-Polish restaurateur who are also the creator of other superb restaurants namely Chelsea Market & Cafe, MoMo Cafe, Mr. Jones, Museum Cafe and the newest addition on their growing list – Kabila Filipino Bistro (beside the new Museum Cafe in Ayala Museum Complex Greenbelt 4). Each restaurant lends a unique concept and target.

Opened last May 2012, Stella is a wood-fired bistro that offers a full array of delights peppered with tastes true to the West Coast, the Mediterranean and South America with an influence of European cuisine. The bistro, prominently located in Bonifacio High Street Central, makes use of natural wood in its dishes, imparting the most flavorful aromas unlike any other cooking technique.

Stella’s interior is inviting, simple yet fresh on the eyes. Ideal for brunches with colleagues, working ladies who lunch and friends or family get-together dinners.

Stella is envisioned to be the Star restaurant among all the other establishments in Fort Bonifacio area. See their one star above? *grin* They craft high quality dishes using fresh harvests and mostly organic ingredients. Stella provides sustainable handcrafted cuisine kept fresh and simple.

Rocket Room on the other-hand, is a bar lounge-slash-cafe which is just adjacent Stella.

Rocket Room’s set-up is perfect for having small bites of antipasti or their tapas, drinking mixed liquor or lounging during coffee break or after work hours. It is still open in the late hours even after Stella closes.

It houses a remarkable selection of wines, beers and infused cocktails. With it’s vivid and outré interiors elaborately designed lends a retro vibe to your every hangout.

Stella and Rocket Room were strategically separated and designed differently to accommodate diverse target markets – Stella for families and casual diners and Rocket Room for yuppies and professionals. But you may order dishes from Stella and vice versa.

Food On Our Table

While waiting for our main orders, they served us their complimentary bread and roasted Tomato and garlic with pesto dip. And then…

They first served Stella’s drinks.

Before attending the styling workshop last Saturday, I had a lunch date with my B.

with my lunch date B{ *apologies for the over-exposed photo* }

He asked where I want to eat and I just said I want something healthy, more on vegetables. He instantly remembered Mey Lin Pot & Noodle House in SM Megamall Atrium for their simple Chinese dishes but oh so delicious for our liking!

If you noticed all our orders are on their vegetable menu + white rice + their complimentary unlimited hot tea (which I love in Chinese restaurants!).

If you are hungry and in search of a delicious, fuss-free meal that are easy on your pocket, I strongly suggest you head on over to Mey Lin! I can’t remember how many times we dined here and so far they are all pleasant memories.
